Family effort on this one. My daughter asked her math teacher who was no help at all and i had a good think about it after looking at the hints above. we both come home on the same day with the same answer. What is the odds on that?

erm.. i got this puzzle sorted but...

just about every part of this question is wrong.. and the answer also wrong if the question is right... Thers so many bits missing and so much left to assumption... but.. a least the way they do it is a little easier for people

What are you talking about?
This card is written just fine.
It's like the question where you have say 10 red socks and 15 blue socks in a drawer. How many socks do you have to take out to be sure of a matching pair?

Here's a bonus question for you probability geeks: How many jelly beans do you need to draw before you have greater than a 50% chance that you've got 3 of a kind? It's similar to the birthday paradox -- that you need just 23 people in a room before you have greater than even odds that two people have the same birthday. But doing it for 3 makes it a bit tougher.

Any thoughts?

I thought there was a magic eye too, but I'm not too good at them

Does anyone think that the black beans are making pattern... because they seem to stick out a bit to me... again, maybe I'm looking for too much!

there is definetly a weird pattern, any colour has a string of the same following it, at the bottom eithr red or turqiouse looks like numbers, like 800 or something

Just think how many you'd need to have been so unlucky as to just enough of every type of bean but not quite - your next go then MUST be your final bean because it will have to make at least one complete set.

I thought this as well BUT once I got the answer right I could see that it made sense.

the Important thing to remember is that the question asks for ANY colour three times NOT a specific colour!
