1 is fairly straight forward.

Ah, if it's what I think it is (god bless google) I can rest safe in the knowledge that I've never heard of it (I was thinking of another book with that last word in it).

Cheers!

I think its

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Ernest Hemmingway

but I stand to be corrected. I didn't bother to check because luckily I had heard of it. Not that having heard of it helped much with 2 or 5.
Did these people used to work for The Sun?

And it was Hemmingway - my girlfriend has read it and didn't get it! She was gutted!

A head scratching card at first - but they slowly came to me one by one. One of those cards that you pick up one day and try something different/approach from a different angle and 'voila' the answers come to you - and you groan at how devilish, yet easy, some of the answers were! Nice one.

I've heard of them all - alas never read any of them!
Gonna give this card to my English Dept to puzzle over. Hehe.

Easily my favourite card so far, but then I do work in a book shop.

We have loads of spare time, and all of those book in stock, which made this card have an extra level of treasure-hunty-ness (which is a word)

Ed: Oops, sorry, was thinking of the wrong card!

OK, so now I remember which card we're talking about, spoiler mark the answers you've been putting in and someone should be able to help.

Well they are all correct. As far as I remember the last one needs an apostrophe. Is it a Firefox / IE thing again?

I think it is just the apostrophe...But it is a while now since I solved it.

I solved this card last week, and I'm pretty sure that the last one doesn't have an apostrophe. Looks to me that it may be a bug. Either that or my memory's worse than I thought

I've just checked my notes for this card, and I have exactly the same answers as listed by Total_Serendipity (other than I used capitals in the first one).
For the record, I checked on Amazon and the correct title for the last one does not have an apostrophe.
