yes, your looking for the shape that would exist if a full light was shown on a raised surface.

Further to Angie's spoiler -

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

if the light was catching on the same edges it was shining on, the light is shining from the right.

Not sure if that will help, in either case but I finally (!!!!) solved this card thanks to Angie and that was how I approached getting the answer.

Thank you, Danke, merci. I love you both and want to have your babies. (Just kidding)
but not about the thanks. Just solved it - oh the satisfaction. They're diabolical these mind candy people.

Masochists the lot of us.

I finally got it too, thanks to everyone. Even the title makes sense now.

This card has a lot of *wrong* solutions to it... it just so happens that arithmetic is also being performed on this card to make 21-20=1. I thought to myself "what does red have to do with that at all?" Now with the correct solution, I sorely realize red has nothing to do with any of it other than being a "red herring." I'm slightly bitter at this card.

I disagree.

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Without the thin red lines you wouldn't have the answer. I mean, if you took the thin red lines away from the average person you would also take away their ****

I see your disagree and raise you another disagree. =)

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Since when have veins and arteries ever been referred to as thin red lines? Or thin? or red? well, maybe red. But the point is that is not the first thing I think of when I hear "Thin Red Line." There are many things that make *insert answer* possible, why narrow in on one of them and make it sound like a WW2 movie?

Plus, I'm still in shock that the answer isn't "arithmetic" or "subtraction."

Obviously I can't give hints about my own card. Even if I could, I wouldn't because it's been done.

But about some of the things people have said.

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

The thin red lines is a nice touch by mind candy, but it's not the original title that I proposed. (Mine was 'What's the meaning of this?').

Now, yes, you can make those red lines mean lots of things if you want it to. Trust me, I've heard all SORTS of answers. Any pattern can be given multiple meanings if you look hard enough for them.

But none of that matters, because in my mind, one mark of a GOOD puzzle is one where, when you get the answer, you know that it MUST be right. If there's room for doubt, then there's a certain inelegance to the puzzle (I am reminded of a certain puzzle to do with a 'lexical game' in season 1).

Glad folks are having fun with this one.

Oh, it's a fine puzzle, but I need to show everyone the pattern that I was seeing... ya know, prove I'm not crazy.

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Code:

 _ _ _
_ _ equates to 21 in binary (imagine as 10101)

 _ _
_ __ equates to 20 in binary (imagine as 10100)

                              3
                             -1
 _____ equates to = (as in -- )
                              2

     _
____ equates to 1 in binary (imagine as 00001)

It's just weird how the real answer makes for good math when looked at this way. One crazy coincidence even.

See now I didn't see any of these things. After staring at it for far too long I started to think

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

the shape was the UK without Ireland. It's kinda reminiscent and the red lines could have had something to do with trains/transit lanes.

It could also have been called

I feel a bit ambivalent about this card. It's worthy of MC themselves

Well as long as I'm not imagining it then I'm happy. I'd hate to be delusional and be the only one who realizes it. =)

This card is really annoying me now. I can see what I'm supposed to see but I have no idea what the answer is! I've tried (possible hints follow):

Low-Frequency Effects
Low Frequency Emitter

But none are right. Please someone point me on the right track: I'm losing my mind!

The first positive non-Fibonacci
is also the length of your answer
