I can confirm that

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Noahsark

doesn't work. Arrgh, I almost thought I had the answer for it.

I know everybody thought the spaces look like a DNA helix, but my first blush was of a sliding puzzles. Not sure how you could turn that into a question though, but thought I'd throw it in and see if anybody with far superior puzzling skills that has done the research could work with it.

....Or alternatively I had the idea there may be a numerlogical cypher hidden in the atomic numbers that make up the substances? I'm waaayyyy behind in the research so maybe somebody else is in a better position to try it?

Thankyou! I have now had a couple more silvers, and solved those, so I do feel better. I no longer need a hug.
I am no cryptographer, hopefuly Thomas Bookmore's lessons will help with that ,so I have no chance of decrypting any code hidden in the card, but I have stumbled upon another line of enquiry that I will keep you up to date with. More research necessary, but it does bring together all of the stuff on the card, kind of.....

Done Kidnapped (google) Collage ( forums + google!) and A Piece of History, which actually was a code that I had researched recently! Lucky that one. Google is your friend, they say, and it is so true! My head hurts now, but I am determined to crack this card, though maybe not tonight....

Ok, so this is what I was going with... during my research on this, I stumbled upon a name..

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Murray Gell-Mann

The name made me think that I could be onto something, ( because of the card title) though now I'm not so sure. I can confirm that the following are incorrect answers.

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Quark,Gluon,hadron, Jaguar,charm, top

Research a little yourself & see if you get why I was interested in him...!

Anyone still working on this got any further? I have left all my research stuff at work (thank Heavens for the Oxfam bookshop, I now know sooo much more about cells and genetics than I would ever have imagined!), but have been working on the idea that genetic code letters have something to do with it. I got so frustrated that I gave up for ages, but have been half looking at it again!

I've been having a go at this one occasionally when inspiration hits, but nothing's worked so far. I've come up with some great encoding schemes though, maybe I'll get around to creating puzzles with them.

I have a few ideas on the card one of them was from goldberg69's post over at perplexorum (here is a copy of my post)

goldberg69 wrote:

I have recently tried:

2. I tried condensing each ligand into a single number, based on the letters/numbers included in the identifier, and translating to a letter by adding them together and reducing mod 26. Then treating this output as a cryptogram.
i.e. BR becomes "T" (2+18=20=T), 1MZ becomes "N" (1+13+26=40 mod 26=14), etc. I haven't been able to make the words "What," "List," "Name," or "This" with either what I believe as the first word or last word in the sentence (thinking I may need to go from heaviest to lightest...)

I have looked at actually putting the ligands in order in each word by their weight, but again - I think the dynamics of the code designer finding ligands that meet the criteria becomes too difficult.

In the end, I think the solution is simpler rather than more difficult.

Thoughts?

I like your thinking goldberg, It has made me think a little on the card,

Here is my thinking so far

Rather than organising them by heaviest to lightest how about breaking them into groups?

ie
BR/1MZ/2AP/2HP - GU5/16A - MTD/NGO - 1AL/AAR/6CL/ABH/ALF/3MT/25T/1AC/ZH3/MTG - AAD/CLB/623/678 - IOD/144 - BMZ/V35/DSC/SRB - 3MA/3MC/ASI/MEV/ABI/1P3/TOC
T/H/I/S - I/S - A/N - E/X/P/E/R/I/M/E/N/T - T/H/A/T - I/F - Y/O/U/R - ?/?/?/?/?/?/?

got a few other thoughts at the moment which I will be working on in the next few weeks when it gets less busy

I would love to see this card get solved before the next waves come out

ive also noticed that following on form manleym's point, although i agree with him, it also spells out-
T/H/I/S I/S A/N U/N/S/O/L/V/A/B/L/E C/A/R/D ...

Keep up the good work guys, this is nearly solved.

Just a thought
