Hello!

You know we love puzzles at Mind Candy, and we know you love puzzles too. There's even something about the loving of puzzles in our site name.

But!

We know there's other puzzles out there that you love, too! We're smart like that. We know we can't possibly have every kind of puzzle you love on our site. We'd like to know what they are, though, so we can achieve our aim of world domination. So - what other puzzles do you love? Share and enjoy!

Love and silvers,

Mind Candy

Tsunami!

It's the only puzzle missing from the site. Which is a shame, because it's also one of the most fun.

I think they were renamed after the 2004 Tsunami, but I can never remember their new name...

I've never been able to go very very far into it (time, brains, all that stuff) but I still like the looks of The Cambrian Code a lot !

Yey, love Tsunami too! Called Hanjie now, but it's seriously addictive. My boyfriend tells me off for constantly "scribbling"

Sunday Telegraph has these - but calls them Griddlers. A great way to while away a sunday morning with a large cup of coffee.

Hours and hours and hours of puzzle heaven. Not sure where you can still get a physical stone though

Ah yes, I'm a massive stone fan. Nothing else has kept me up into the early hours desperate to solve just one last puzzle before bed!

Oh my god... I had TOTALLY forgotten about that! I bought one of the stones YEARS ago, but the site hadn't gone up yet... so I never really got into it... I wonder where the heck that thing is now..., huh, here I was playing a kind of ARG before I even knew what one was!

The cryptex puzzles (which were all the rage when the The Da Vinci Code movie was being hyped) were kind of fun. Especially with a 'tries so far' counter and a timer.

Another puzzle I really like is
http://weihwa.feedback.googlepages.com/seriesoftubes
I don't know if you need a Google account to see this puzzle... it's a grid of squares. Each square has some pipe - a dead-end, a straight piece, a 90 degree corner, a T-junction, or a 4-way junction. The goal is to rotate each square so that it makes one continuous network.

I also liked The Academy Pipeworks (Perplex Volume 0, page 12). A bit like Ponturu (why did you change the name from Mimasan Bridges?), but different enough that it's a fun variation.

I come across implementation and optimisation problems in my coding job all day, so I see lots of coding problems... that may be a bit too specialised to make a whole class of puzzles out of, though.

Finally, timetables. There is a lot you can do with timetables. Say there are x classrooms, y teachers, z subjects, w classes, v periods per day, different subjects take different numbers of periods per week, not every class has the same set of subjects, sports must be at a fixed time of day, periods are not all exactly the same length, each teacher wants a half-day, some rooms are too far apart to make it from one to the other between periods, or from one to the student's locker to the other ... there are tons upon tons of complications you can heap on. A rich subject for puzzle-generation.

I was introduced to the Stone years ago. I believe it was manufactured/distributed by a company called "Dice Corp" who also made Stealth Chess (and thats how I heard about it). That was probably back in 1999. I am surprised to see the website still up. Does anyone know the the stone is still produced?

Big fan of Tsunami/Griddlers/Nonograms. I'm also very much partial to a Nikoli puzzle called Ripple Effect.

I am not going to plug DROD. That's not fair.

Sadly, The Stone isn't produced any more. The only online shop that stocked them was Netfysh http://www.netfysh.com/, but they've now run out, so Ebay is now the only option if you want one.

I've been playing that game for about 6 years. It's still ongoing. The site contains some truly excellent puzzles and a wonderful player community. Currently, 215 out of the 216 official puzzles have been solved. However, I must warn you, with the most recent puzzles, the quality has dropped quite considerably. The final six puzzles are only accessible to players who paid an extra $30, though they will become freely available to all Stone-buyers once the 216th puzzle has been solved.

There are a couple of sites where Stone players have uploaded their own puzzles. Unlike the actual game, these sites are free to access, and are a good way to see if Stone puzzles are for you.

http://www.thestoneunturned.com/
http://www.scarecrowsfield.com/

Scarecrows Field still accepts new player puzzles. The Stone Unturned has stopped accepting player puzzles, but there's still around 300 puzzles on there to play. Years ago, I created a 16-part Metapuzzle for The Stone Unturned entitled The Esoteria, which you can still try your hands at...

I still submit puzzles to Scarecrows Field. (My most recent one went up this week!) However, you have to solve 100-odd other puzzles before you can access my puzzles on there...

Hope this helps.

The Stone had also slipped my memory. I wonder where is mine? I loved the look and feel of the screens.

More recently, I favour the monthly magazine Da Vinci Puzzles, which has a neat layering of puzzles. The core puzzle is a mystery that runs through the first 20~+ issues.

Occasionally you see a stone on eBay but I haven't for a long, long time.
I'm sitting waiting patiently for the last 6 puzzles to be released but I very much doubt I will ever be able to solve them.
Scarecrow's Field and Unturned are great sites too. I love the feel of this type of puzzle and you get to learn things too, like about alien pancakes......

There's always the Isis (www.isisadventure.co.uk) as well.

Though personally I'm sick of the sight of them as I write the clues, hide the pyramids, hide some of the free Isis, make videos etc etc.

I had 9 Isis on my desk up till a couple of weeks ago. Now I have 3.

I even took one (at MindCandy's request) to the party a couple of weeks ago. Suffice to say a lot of people were interested.

Sonicwarp have a few more puzzles coming out soon, but I cant say much at the mo (I'm the project manager for both.)

Although if you are really smart you will find out at least both of the names
