I'm confident that I have a fool-proof answer but it tells me I'm incorrect... Anyone else had this problem?

You might be a victim of the bugs having their party on the site at the moment. Check on the Bug report thread to see if yours has been listed. In the meantime, I'd suggest you use Firefox to browse the site as it appears to be much less prone to bugging.

Thanks Thomas but I can't find anything in the bugs forum and I'm already using Firefox...

I'll try again tomorrow in the hope that it's fixed.

Anyone managed to get a solution accepted yet?

Yes I got an answer accepted. (3rd time lucky lol).

I had to edit my first attempt twice. It's just a case of making sure you remove ALL the unnecessary moves!

Yeah, the answer is actualy quite simple. It's getting the site to except it that is the trouble...

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

I found that I had to 'miss out' the last answer I had put in, to get it excepted as correct. In total there are '5' moves needed to get a correct solution.

It reminds me of #133 (Don't play with your food) from the last set. Everyone had the right answer, but it was realy difficult to get it worded corectly.

Keep trying

Think inside the box; because everyone else is already too busy trying to think outside of it.

That explains it,

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

I'd thought I'd need both "time" steps or neither! Not just the first one.

Thanks!

I'm still not sure I 100% understand this. If he doesn't have a watch how can he "wait xxx minutes"?

Phew! finally got this accepted.

I understand the comparison with the S1 card #133 - Don't Play With Your Food.
However, frustrating as it was, I don't think this card is quite as bad.

The problem with both cards is that there are a number of different ways of wording the solution which are all equally valid, but only one is accepted.

What really annoyed about "Don't Play With Your Food" was that the accepted answer wasn't actually the best way of performing the trick!

I had trouble with this to start with!

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

The only logic that works is that if a fuse takes 40 minutes to burn completely then it will take 20 minutes to burn halfway. However the card states that neither fuse burns at a constant rate so it is impossible to deduce this!

I'm stumped on this one, see from above there are five steps in total. However are any of the wait xx minutes options used ? thanks.

Yeah, it makes it look like he's using some external source to measure time. It should really say "Wait until the fuse burns out", that would be clearer.

Quite a big hint:

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

Um, no, it's not impossible. The only thing you need to know is that lighting the fuse at both ends will halve the TIME the fuse takes to burn. At no point do you need to infer a constant rate of burning along the length of the fuse.

Quite a big hint:
Thank you very much. It was and I really should have thought of it myself.

Really, really big hint

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

If you light the first fuse at both ends... and the second at one end ....
and yes you do need one of the time waits

Hope it helps
