That could be another possibility, but who knows, i reckon this card will be unsolved for a long time

ok! i'm feeling fairly excited about this (it could just be that it is late)...but my research has taken me towards the following (logical and illogical jumps included)...

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

1. 'They Have The Answer' = Smarties (a.k.a. 'Rockets')

2. Rockets ties up with the fact that the image could be the underside of a rocket or spaceship.

3. 'AP?' - could refer to 'Ammonium Perchlorate' which is used as a solid rocket propellant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APCP)

4. which can all be related to '8-point star burning grain cavities' as found inside of rockets (try 'Rocket Propulsion Elements by George Paul Sutton, Oscar Biblarz for a bit of light reading)

i'm not sure of the next step!

I never thought i would be typing these words but...

...DO WE HAVE A ROCKET SCIENTIST IN THE HOUSE?

A further addition is the following;

It seems that some further research needs to be made in the direction of the Titan 3 Solid Rocket Motor which as far as i can find is the only solid rocket booster to use an 8-point star grain configuration with circular perforations...sound familiar?

A few thoughts on this card...

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

When I look at this card, the first thing that comes to my mind is - picture of an eclipse

Neptune has eight named moons and 3 more that were discovered in '02[

There are terrific pictures of Neptune at http://cseligman.com/text/planets/neptune.htm

Well a few weeks ago I investigated the Apollo 13 incident, working on a hunch that "They have the answer" could be something to do with "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here."

Came to a dead end but it's a great story (and I enjoyed the film which definitely captured the spirit of the situation if not being wholly accurate).

PS Ofsted didn't have a kloo.

*Nods, taking notes*

Good thoughts, all...

I seriously don't know if my next research attempt should be in rocket propulsion systems, planetary moons, constellations, the history of NASA, South American astrological symbols, or British candy manufacturing.

Let's toss antiquing terminology into the mix now.

1 Gold Card available for Trade, as well as many Blacks and Silvers (and other cards, including S2W2)! Still looking for...

Season 1: 235, 236, 239, 245, 250, 252-256
Season 2, Wave 1: 229, 231-233
Season 2, Wave 2: 236, 238-241, 243.

Uh, kinda.

There are three things that I've not seen mentioned, dunno how (ir)relevant they are:

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

0. Stars? Aside from the green centre, they're all colours/temperatures. But there's no blue/white, so maybe not...
1. P = Polaris... It's at the "North" of the card
2. Polaris => nuclear ICBMs? Which use "Celestial Guidance" - during the boost phase, the missile uses star positions and a known launch time to accurately calculate its orientation

Well, I found lots of connections between the inner ring of mumbers and the moon (e.g. Dark Side of the Moon, Georges Melies (as stated earlier), Lunar landings, proposal to site a base on the moon in 2025, but alas the answer is not moon or moonbase.

Currently looking into interstellar messages on the SETI website

http://www.seti.org/Page.aspx?pid=688

1974 Arecibo Broadcast

Probably a dead end but interesting stuff nonetheless

*************************************************

My latest harebrained scheme has been to try to create paths from the numbers using the mathematical operators + and - so that each line gives the result 42 (42 as in the HitchHiker's Guide) e.g.

Line "1" (skirting round the central section)
5 + 26 + 27 + 2 + 18 - 20 - 16

and then converting the operators to binary

++++-- 111100

I didn't get anything meaningful. I've got to find a new hobby or get out more.

The answer is not Operators (though it might be Directory Enquiries, I haven't tried that yet).

Well, that binary value (adding two trailing zeroes to make it work) is 240 in decimal, if that applies to anything useful. If the zeroes are leading, it's 60.

Binary to decimal converter here

It's probably just me, but I don't feel we're to that point yet...I know I can always just not read the posts, but I still have quite a bit of hope for figuring this out with the amount of collaboration that's already going on...and I'm enjoying the research still.

That said, it's just one point of view

Key question for Makadabo then...
... did the list of incorrect answers help with the Gel Together solve?!

I'll add a few wrong'uns if others do.

True enough.

Absolutely, positively, they did not help in any way...although I have to admit that I gave up looking at them because it seemed to be turning into a guessing contest and that seemed, for me, to defeat the purpose of puzzle solving.

I did say that it was just my humble opinion because it is so soon and because there is still so much ongoing dialog about ideas - I'm all up for a list of incorrect answers on Riemann!
