Hi,

In honour of season 1 card #076 Close Up , and in the time honoured tradition of Ask The Family , I thought I’d start this thread.

Instructions:

If it is your turn, take a photograph of a common household object, from whatever peculiar angle you choose. Then (using photoshop or similar) zoom in on a feature of this object, thereby cropping it from its context. Resize this image to 380 by 380 pixels, and host it at Photobucket (or similar) posting the image (IMG) in this thread.

The Rules (can be amended if we see fit):

Players must post their best guess as to what the object is.
The player that successfully identifies the object takes the next turn and must post a new image (or nominate someone else to do so).

However, if the object has not been identified after 8 guesses, then the player whose turn it is must post another copy of the same photograph, but viewed from a greater distance.
If the object has not been identified after another 6 guesses, then the player whose turn it is must post a final image, revealing even more of the original photograph.
If the object has not been identified after a final 4 guesses, the player whose turn it is can be declared to have beaten all-comers, and must post a final image revealing what the object is, and choose who should go next, based on the answers posted.

The Rotek clause: If no-one guesses for, say, 2 or 3 days, then a zoomed out version of the picture [must] be posted.




Note: As a guide, all images are probably best being approx 380 by 380 pixels except the final, revealing image, which should be no larger than 500 by 380 pixels.

Great idea! Bit of a guess, as the card was the subject of much searching for quite a while but:

Agreed - great thread idea, sloth! I can't get the idea out of my head that the 2 smaller circles are for charging something up. Maybe an electric toothbrush? (I figure that's wrong, but struggling to work out what it really is

Wait! The bottom of a lightbulb?


EDIT: Also, though we don't have a problem at the moment, might it be an idea to amend the rules to say that if no-one guesses for, say, 2 or 3 days, then a zoomed out version of the picture can be posted (unless it'll mean a forth photo)? That way the game will keep moving. Just an idea, hope it sounds clear!

Good idea, and the number of guesses thing was only to see how it goes, this can be altered to suit.

Also, sorry. It's not the bottom of a light bulb! So that's three down

I'm pretty sure that this is plastic. I think it is probably some kind of product you might find in a bathroom. But as to what it is exactly, well...

I'm going to guess that it is part of the lid of some bathroom product, the bit that folds down to close it.
