With some very kind guidance from makadabo on my theories I have managed to solve this one now, through my wave 1 alter ego. And I can confirm the answer is not werepig, a solution which I was pretty confident of for a while, for some very good reasons!

Regret now not having kept up with the daily play, as the efforts have made no difference to the leaderboard

Does the answer have something to do with the animals on the branches of the tree in the background of the card i.e. a hybrid mix of all the animals somehow symbolised in the list of protein codes?!?!

Nope, the solution doesn't require anything that complex. I should know, I went down many complex paths before getting the answer. Try using some of the properties of the compounds in a simple combination.

Makadabo told me that all you need is the first few paragraphs from the wiki on gel electrophoresis. Plus what volvox said. Should all fall into place from there.

Yes, I can confirm that you really dont need to know much about chemistry/biology at all.

Bah. I'm obviously too stupid for this card. I'd already been trying something like #14323 to no avail - maybe I'm just using the wrong properties or in the wrong combination, but I still can't figure it out.
