Spoiler: (highlight to read)

One of the things you need to plot is the overall charge of the ligand. it should be easy from here.

Thanks

By the way, this by no means implies that I know what on earth you mean, but thanks anyway

Well I have a limited knowledge of chemistry but all the values you need are on the list made earlier in this thread, the list with the pictures of the molecules included.

So am I right in thinking that . . . . . . .

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

When we have the two values [whatever they may be], and plot them onto some form of graph [whatever type of graph it may be], that the shapes of the lines we have just plotted will form a question?!?!

Yes, all along we were all thinking that this was a proper PXC puzzle and that it wouldnt just be straight forward. We were wrong, its just blindly plotting a graph then reading a word off.

So then that leaves us wondering what values and what graph?!?!

Has anyone [bar fretty] got any thoughts, ideally someone who hasn't solved the card. It just seems that if we keep going like this, it will end up that fretty will have given everyone the answer in 8 posts time. Clearly we're still here because we're not getting something. Part of me does just wants to be told the answer but another part of me is saying 'be a man, work it out!!!'

Anyone thoughts?!?!

I think I'm close with the hints so far, and it looks like it was enough for trk to solve it.

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

I've made a very very rough plot by hand, and ended with what might be letters, but they don't spell out a word I recognise. I'm hoping that when I make a more accurate plot, the answer will just leap out at me.

Yes it was, and I must say I'm a little disappointed. I expected to have to do some more work to see the answer (which would have made this a much better puzzle). This should've been a Purple.

I'll spoiler this just in case, but it shouldn't give too much away:

In the end I used gnuplot with several data files derived from parts of the card, and there was the answer.
