The symbols are taken from a famous substitution cipher, I haven't got this card but the same key alphabet s probably used.

Thanks Mikej for the hint. I;ve got a translation, (even though theres a couple of places I can't seem to make sense), but can read most of it. Is the answer related to Mikej's clue, or should I be looking further afield?

Thanks to mikej, I found the key alphabet but it's too unclear to use. Does anyone know of a website with nice clear characters please?

The wife and i found this site. The symbols seem to match up with the text on the card a little better.

Look at the bottom paragraph, as Brownclaw says it is a riddle. So ignore the rest of the letter and look at the last part. What does this describe?

Anyone notice how the rope to the right of the symbols at the top forms a question mark....mysterious or what?

i think you might be right, i had it as two types of runes, still with a few unknown symbols left over though.
