I believe they call them 'optics', although it looks far more sophisticated than any model i've ever used.

I did actually dispense (get it) with my old model a few years ago as it had a habit of dropping the bottle at the most inopportune moment causing me to do some crazy motions trying to rescue said bottle.

MM, i think i'm spending far too much time in your company [image]

My thanks, AndyAndyO, on coming up with a "common household object" which, in a full handful of decades upon this Earth (including what would mount up to a fair percentage of one in drinking establishments in the US, UK and elsewhere), I have never encountered. You make me feel young, innocent and sober.

(If, as kie_yeo believes, said device is called an "optic", I would hazard it actually facilitates the creation of many doubled optics.)

And before I receive any (perhaps reasonable) rebukes that none of this merry band have ever encountered the (thankfully) rare lamp I chose to share with you...well, show me a household without a lamp, and I'll show you an unenlightened one. (Try using your damned optics--of whatever variety--in the dark!)

(P.S. to k_y: If you think spending "time in my company" can be a warping experience, imagine what 24/7 has done for MY sanity.)

Oh, right, I'm supposed to use this thread to make a GUESS. Well, as to the new picpuz, I'll hazard it might be the interior battery contacts of a cell phone or mp3 player...but what it REALLY reminds me of (with, indeed, a smile) is the unforgettably maniacal leer of lupine half of this cult-fave comic book, animation and game team:

All very good guesses but the win goes to Minton with the interior battery contacts of a cell phone. Over to you.....

My sincere apologies. I had to go off on business for a week and didn't have access to check in. Add to that the fact I had no idea my idle guess would be correct...and this once-dynamic thread has lain fallow.

Well, enuff of that sop. Here's something to ponder:

I reminds me of vacuum packaging but for the life of me I can't think of a household item you'd want to vacuum pack!
I'm going to go with the weak guess of a shelf of some kind.

It's not a lamp-stand in the shape of a lady's leg wearing blue stockings is it?!
