Difficulty Creepy Caligraphy

While moving through a pumpkin patch, a gangly fellow holding up a jack-o-lantern jumps out from behind a bush. "You'll come with me forever more, friend," he begins, "for I've wandered alone far too long, with only a lamp to keep me company." "But I'd rather not," you say. He sighs, and points to a pumpkin. "Fine. The ol' scratch made a scratch in that pumpkin, writing the name of my lamps. But I didn't always use pumpkins. Can you read it and learn what I used before these orange gourds?"
